How Long Is The Drive From Hook Point to Orchid Beach?

The drive from Hook Point to Orchid Beach is a total of approximately 105 km and can take anywhere from 2-3 hours depending on the actual beach conditions, the weather and the prevailing tide.

Drive to tarding post orchid beach

You should allow a minimum of 2.5 hours if you are driving between low tide times. This is 2 hours before low tide and 2 hours after low tide. These are the optimum driving times along the beach.

Also when planning your drive take into consideration your tyre pressure. Too low and can slow down your drive and too high may cause unnecessary sand bogging that can cause delays.

Bogged – Don’t be a Victim and Get Bogged at Inskip Point

“A little advice prior to your arrival at Inskip Point to ensure you don’t get bogged”

Visitors to Fraser Island often have no real idea of what to expect once they reach Inskip point.

It’s advisable that you make a quick stop in the car park area ( under the shade of the trees) and prepare to let down your tyres. Driving in the soft sand with fully inflated tyres is bad news and you’ll just get bogged.
