Taking a Caravan To Fraser Island – What You Need To Know Before You Tow

This subject matter is extremely important if you plan on towing a caravan or camper onto Fraser Island. Especially so if you have never done off road sand driving.

The first thing is not to under estimate just how treacherous the driving on Fraser Island can be. With continuous tide changes, weather and vehicle traffic, the beaches, the sand and the tracks are constantly changing.

If you’re looking for a great place to go beach fishing, Fraser Island is 100% worth considering. With its long coastline, sheltered bays and an estuary system there are plenty of places to cast your line.

The island is also home to a wide variety of fish, so you’ll surely catch something if you give it a go.

How Long Does It Take To Drive From Hook Point To Eurong?

The drive from the barge landing site at Hook Point to Eurong is a total of 35km and can take anywhere from 1 – 2 hours depending on when you drive and the prevailing tide.

  • Typical travelling time from Hook Point (along 75 mile beach) to Eurong (1 hr 15min)

Conditions may vary and you should allow between 1.5 – 2 hours if you are driving between the low tide times.
