Living the dream life on Fraser Island

Hello and Welcome

May we introduce ourselves as Rusty & Ursula Boston. We have the dream lifestyle of having a home in the remote community of Orchid Beach on beautiful Fraser Island for 22 years.

We have been fortunate enough to be living this dream since 1999 and only recently in March 2022 we made the decision to leave the island and sell our home.

We were lucky enough to be able to home school our girls to indulge in our dream lifestyle for many years. No school on this island, only the school of life.

As of 2022 our oldest daughter is completing her PHD of Psychology and our youngest is now studying Veterinary Science at JCU Townsville.

Over the years we have gained so much knowledge about this sacred island and all it has to offer. We have insights and secrets that only locals are privy to.

Everything about sand driving, hot fishing spots, where the worms and pippis are and everything in between.

With our combined knowledge and experience of the island we will give you an insight into all things about Fraser.

Rusty is a mad fisherman and totally loves the water. So all the articles relating to these subject will most likely be written by him.

I, Ursula just embrace the daily life of living on the island and enjoy the view.

Lotus is passionate about photography and the wildlife that the island has to offer. She can be credited for 90% of the images and photos on our website. The pics of the Dingo’s are her favourites.

So everything from planning your visit, accommodation reviews, what to see & do, beach driving, where to fish, tide times, barge bookings and Fraser dangers are written and researched by us as a family.

Should there be any other source we endeavour to give credit where it is due.

Need Help Planning a Trip? – Call Ursula on 0405057205

We will be updating the site regularly with new feature articles, photos and videos as well as answering some of your concerns and questions.

We invite you to come and visit this amazing island and experience for yourself all the beauty and excitement it has to offer.

Remember planning & preparation makes for a pleasant stay.

If you have any questions about staying on the island or want to book a holiday home. Please use our contact form and we will be glad to help you.
